Experts within the new Optimization Clinic at Specialists in General Surgery can help you become more engaged in your care prior to complex surgical procedures, such as bariatric surgery, gastric resection, a Whipple procedure or esophageal cancer surgery. During the visit, you will meet with Elizabeth Becker, AGNP-C, who is leading the program. She will provide you with valuable information about what to expect you’re your surgery and recovery, both in the hospital and at home.
“Our goal is to prevent complications and provide a shorter hospital stay for patients,” said Becker. “By participating in our Optimization Clinic, patients and their families have more time to be fully engaged, ask questions, and absorb information.”
Surgeons at Specialists in General Surgery perform a number of complex surgeries, including both gastric sleeve (gastrectomy) and Roux en Y gastric bypass. Learn more here. They also perform Whipple procedures to treat conditions of the pancreas, esophageal cancer surgery and many other complex surgeries.
“When patients are more informed about their procedures, this enables them to participate fully in their preparation and recovery,” said Becker. “Our goal is to provide each person with remarkable, patient-centered care.”
