Specialists in General Surgery Now Seeing Patients in Plymouth and Minnetonka

July 29, 2019

Physicians with Specialists in General Surgery (SGS), based in Maple Grove, Minn., are now seeing patients in Plymouth and Minnetonka. In Plymouth, the SGS office will be within the Northwest Family Clinics, 1495 County Road 101 North. In Minnetonka, patients will be seen within North Memorial Health – Minnetonka, 15450 Highway 7.

Corey Stennes, MD, FACS, the physician on site in both locations, is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He holds a B.S. from Johns Hopkins University and an M.H.S. from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. He received his M.D. degree from St. Louis University and has been with Specialists in General Surgery since 2013. He provides surgical services for a wide variety of conditions but specializes in thyroid, hernia and gallbladder surgeries.

“We are proud of the surgical excellence we provide to our patients,” said Stennes. “Our focus will always be on a surgical approach that provides the best outcome, whether that be open surgery, laparoscopic surgery or robotic surgery.” SGS surgeons perform some of the highest levels of robot-assisted surgeries in the region. This form of minimally invasive surgery results in significant advantages for patients, including a shorter length of stay, smaller scars, fewer complications and less pain medication.

The 13 surgeons at Specialists in General Surgery provide diagnostic and treatment options for a wide variety of medical conditions, including breast disease and breast cancer, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, gallbladder disease, spleen disorders and certain cancers, including liver, pancreatic, colon and skin cancer. SGS also manages the Minnesota Hernia Center for the diagnosis and treatment of several kinds of hernias and the Minneapolis Heartburn Center for the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal disease, including achalasia, Barrett’s esophagus, esophageal cancer, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and hiatal hernia.

In addition to Maple Grove, Plymouth and Minnetonka locations, SGS providers see patients at clinics in Blaine, Buffalo, Crystal, Fridley, Monticello, Robbinsdale and Saint Anthony. A new clinic is expected to open soon in Edina. Patients wishing to make an appointment should call 763-780-6699 or visit www.sgsmn.com for more information.
